Anybody ever hear of aftermarket high flow air filters (guaze & oil kind, i.e. K&N) fouling the mass airflow sensor? Is this common? My bud just had to have his replaced due to fouling with oil from his K&N. Of course GMC would not warranty, but K&N said tough luck, no comment etc.

Yes it can happen with an over oiled filter.

It's a very easy fix some good quality alcohol based electrical contact cleaner will do the trick. I have cleaned mine with complete success no need to buy new.Do not touch resistor or wire ,just spray to clean. If you don't have the special torque bit with hole a thin bladed flathead screwdriver can be used to back the course threaded screws out.

10-4 Mackin. Are the higher end units with heat sheilds/new hose etc worth it in comparision to the stock airbox replacement filters?

By the way, I checked out your truck pics, that unit is absolutely insane!
