My truck is new. Ever since I got it a month ago, sometimes when I start it and go to put it into gear ( R or D ), the trans won't shift into gear. It then displays Shift Range Inhibited on the display. If I put it back in P and wait a little bit, then it will go into gear. Is this normal? Is it just waiting to build up oil pressure or something? It was doing it since the beginning, so it can't be a result of my recently installed Edge Juice. What should I do? It can be scary when this happens when you are parked on a steep hill with a car behind!http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Ermm.gif

No it's not normal
Take it back to the dealer for service.
Just make sure you take off the juice before you bring it in. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Approve.gif

Mine did this one time. It didn't throw any codes and hasn't done it again.

it could be your NBSU switch. do you ever see the illumination around the particular gear selected disappear (when it happens)??

Yes, when I select the gear, and the transmission doesn't engage in, the illumination (bar underneath R or D) is missing. Then, if i give it any throttle, the display reads "shift Range Inhibited".
Then I put it back in park and wait a few secs, and then it's happy. Or, if I start the truck, put it into gear, and no bar under R or D, I just keep my foot on the brake and wait 5 or 10 seconds, and then the trans engages. Seems like it happens when the trans doesn't have enough pressure or something.
