Installed the edge yesterday and last night set it to level 3 with response level set to the one under CARB and tranny set to defuel at the 4-5 shift. Was 45 minutes into a two hour trip and went to pass a Grannymobile out on a county road. Nailed it from 45 and got up to about 70 then slowed down. About 10 seconds later the SES light came on but everything was running fine, thought my MBRP exhaust set the code again so kept on going. About 10 minutes later I went out to the passing lane and went to stand on it again........Nothing! Its almost like it pulled all the power out of the motor. Started to play with it and realized it wouldn't let me over 2,000 rpm's and when I went to climb it would start to buck while just at the 2,000 rpm limit. I figured whatever I did the truck went into limp mode.

Got to my destination parked it for 4 hours. When I got back in I set the power level to 1 and went home. No more problems.

What's the deal. I thought the Ally would handle level 3. Will it learn to handle level 3 or what. Please help.

It should handle level 3 without any problems.

The ally probably didn't have enough time to adapt to the extra power. Mine actually shifts better(IMO) on lvl 3 than 1 or 2. I would suggest giving it a week or so in each setting 1, 2, & 3(after you check for and clear any codes) and give it time to get used to the extra power. My truck is the LB7 and I am not using the monitor. I ran levels 1 and 2 for more than a month each before even trying level 3. If I didn't tow so often, I would probably leave it in level 3. Haven't tried level 4.

Mine seems to run best on level 3 as well, but I don't push it too hard either.

You've got to remember that the LLY has more power than the LB7, and even though the ratings are a little different for the LLY Juice, the old axioms about what the trans will take with an LB7 may not hold for the LLY...http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Ermm.gif

Well SES light came on and stayed on again this morning on the way home from work just after I filled up at Flying J. Wasn't doing anything but cruising home. Wasn't hammering it or anything. I started to push it to see if it would limp. In level 1 it felt fine. What's the deal. Can I read/ clear codes through the Edge monitor?

BTW thanks for the earlier replies.

Unfortunately, no. If you've got an old laptop (I use a 486 w/12Mb RAM & Windoz3.11) you can run the Explorer-OBD2 software to read the codes and reset them.

The s/w isn't the "greatest" or easiest to use (IMHO), but for only ~$120, its about the cheapest - if you've
already got a laptop. The URL is http://www.obd-2.com/

hope this helps,

T.

bigblock- Same thing has happened to me, twice. I talked to Edge about it and it looks like there are a few of us with this problem. It happened to me both times with the Suncoast Stage III so I don't think its tranny related. Gotta be something with the programming.

Do you have your Cat removed?

Any chance that your turbo is cutting out? There have been several turbo failures.

DSTRBD, The cat is removed. Can that have somthing to do with it. I thought the Edge took care of that code?

Max Power, Don't think the turbo is going out. drove it 200+ miles today and when I got into boost it felt linear, no break up or flat spots.

Oh BTW check engine light stopped showing today. Did I store a long term code or did the problem maybe fix itself?

The code will be there. Perhaps the turbo quit and then came back. Just a thought. Get the codes read.

bigblock- It has only happened with Cat-less trucks. They believe it has something to do with the EGR. I have my cat back on now and have had 0 problems.

I'm gonna have a buddy of mine throw a scan tool on it tomarrow. I guess I'll know more then.

Thanks for all the replies.
