I'm building a RegCab RegBox, out of a RegCab LongBox, I loosing 14"in Wheelbase on the RCLB. Could I still pull with it( there are only 3-4 pulls a year around here). Or would I be wasting my time, and just use my Ext Cab Reg Box( it's 2 feet longer) for pulling?

Wheelbase does help alot due to leverage (pulling the front end off the ground). The rear tires get plenty of traction due to the sled pulling down, so the difference between two similar trucks is usually how much power can be planted by the front end. Blocking the rear (to help prevent weight transfer and hitch height loss), lowering torsion bars and placing weight furthur forward all helps. Starting with a shorter truck is a disadvantage, but it does not mean you can't use it. If you can setup your truck better than the next guy, you can win but you will have to do some homework and get creative. If you can add hanging weight in front, you will have the advantage of adding more weight as you have less weight overall. Alot will depend on where you pull and what they "allow" or don't allow.

:exactly: Go ahead and fix up the ol' Reg cab. We need more of them out there anyhow!

It'll be less of a difference if you're allowed front hanging weight.

If you're not allowed, then plan on pulling "for fun" if you get up against real competition.

What's the dinky truck for? Drag racing?

Reg. cab short bed for pulling??

Only I would is if you could hang weights out front. Its still gonna look funny too. But hey, if you can make it work, Mopar, I mean, more power to ya. :D

I'd likely leave the RC SB for racing and the EC SB for pulling if its feasible to have two seperate competitive diesel motorsports vehicles.

the wheelbase is going to hurt you either way...but with hanging weight it will be better....best advise keep the short truck for the strip

Thanks guy, the short truck is really going to built for the track, not pulling. I don't think I'll add the parts needed for pulling on this one. I still have my daily driver for pulling, I got hooked on pulling this year, but we only have 3 or 4 pulls a year around here. So It makes more sense to build a drag truck and not a pulling truck.

I myself would prefer a ext. cab with a long box. I'm a powerstroke guy, last year I pulled my 97 ext LB against a 97 reg cab guy and I walked all over him, I just had a 4" exhaust as compared to his tuner/intake/exhaust.

Look at the 4wd gasser pulling trucks and most of them all have as long of a wheelbase as they're allowed too, with weight hangin off the front:driver:
