49 - got tired of a 94 Suburban (12 years, 350km on it), and we wanted to trade our smaller trailer up to a 5th wheel - needed the grunt. Crew cab was a must after a suburban and we weren't impressed with the cramped ext cabs. The '03 we found is a fully loaded LT model - ain't NEVER going back to a gasser!

58. Had station wagons, suburbans, SUV's for years and got tired of the gassers' weak towing and down-shifting due to low torque. Once the turbo diesels came about with decent performance, I wanted one. Now I have a real truck and nothing to haul!

19, drive a 94 suburban k1500 (gas 350), bought it because it was a truck my parents and i agreed on that could make the trip back from utah to midland texas in a blizard without a problem. if i find a cheap chevy diesel 4x4 that i could trade it in for i will, otherwise i'm gonna drop a diesel in it and put a solid front axle under it. i do road trips from time to time with friends and pull decent sized trailers every now and then.

47 - Really wanted a better & safer tow vehicle on the Hwy's, was able to upgrade our pull trailer to a 5th wheel.

There's only the two of us and our dogs so the extra cab was perfect...it also fits in a 20ft garage.

In 03 the Duramax sales were cooling off, and I got mine for $7k under sticker at 2.9% It was time to buy !!

59. Bought it at 0-72 because I could... Used for farm and 115 miles round trip to job as an engineer so I can afford to waste money farming. Pull farm equip. and many things on flatbed trailer. Farm's for sale & I plan to retire next year. Not parting with this truck though. I Love this truck!

I'm 29. I sort of need a truck for work, I'm a wellsite geologist and on occasion I need the 4x4 and the ground clearance to get onto the location. I got the 04 because I wanted to get rid of my 01 1500 gasser. I went with the diesel because I wanted something that as long as possible. I'm hoping to get 5-7yrs (if not more) on this one as a daily driver and then retire it to a weekend trailer hauler. Or at least I anted something I could run into the ground.

I am 52, retired and just purchased my second one ton diesel truck for towing a RV trailer (33.5 foot Montana with double slides). Been doin' it for 12 years. Got the '06 because it had been through an "upfitter" and had everything added that I was gonna do anyway and got a dually because I wanted the added security of duals for stability in towing, more power (Duramax engine) and more dependable transmission (Allison).

My wife, on the other hand, loves leather, heated seats, satellite radio and the sunroof. What can I say???

Pushing 62 and on my vacation this year blew the ole' "73" C-20 383. Momma said I had been a good boy this year so she bought me a new 2500HD CC LB LBZ once we got to TX. Kept the "73" and will rebuild the engine. Makes a good trash hauler, rock getter, back woods fishing truck and I don't worry about the paint. Tow a train and needed something to do the job. We tow a 20TT and 16' utility trailer with our quads. Still have to look in the mirrors to see if everything is still behind us.

I will be 38 yrs old in April.

I bought my diesel because imo every ****-ner:D needs a truck.

I picked the CC because of my family.
I chose the 4wd because I off-road frequently, as well as pull my toy- hauler in the sand
I chose the diesel to pull my toy-hauler, and for the longevity of the powertrain. I plan on driving this truck for 10 years!!!

40, Need a truck to pull / haul toys. I have always owned GM trucks (except for one Toyota) I needed a crew for the future family. I needed 4X4 because I got stuck one time in my 03 2WD and it really pi$$ed me off. I wanted a truck that got 18-20 mpg on the highway & it is really amazing how much performance you get out of a Dmax and still get that kind of MPG.

34 here and my wife needed something that smokes like a school bus to haul the kid to pre school.
And have a boat and sled trailer that my half ton would pull fine at 75 mph, 3800 rpms and 7mpg. DMax pulls at 75 mph, 2200rpms and 14 mpg....cool.

25 truck in the sig is the daily driver/hauler.
I had a car and truck (also in sig) and was paying the same amount for them as I am for the truck.

The wife and I have horses, the truck I had did the job but just barely. This truck will pull the trailer no problem, also drive a lot of miles in a year, figured a diesel would last a lot longer also the 4x4 that I never had before is nice when we pull into fields with the horse trailer.

Just turned the big "60". I have the truck in my sig and love it. I am changing from a Class "A" motorhome to a gooseneck toyhauler that will have a GVW of about 14,000#.

I looked for 6 months for an extended cab with the large gasser. Being that I was a diesel mechanic for over 35 years, I am still not sold on the 6.6 engines. As a matter of fact, I really don't care for any of the engines that are in any of the Big "3's" pick-up trucks. I guess that my next one will be a MDT.

I really didn't want the 4x4 either, but since I had a chance to pick this up for just a couple of dollars over $17,000, which included a 24/24,000 warranty, I could not beat the deal.

Anyone want a motorhome to help me recoup my costs? (hahaha)

`03 LB7 2500HD 4X4 - Ext.Cab - 8' Bed ^

`03 - All i could afford
LB7 - Power, longevity, and i like paying more for fuel that smells good:rolleyes:
2500 - I don't need a dually
4X4 - I use the hell out of
Ext.Cab - I fill it with stuff that would make my girlfriend very upset if it were in the front seat.
8' Bed - Fits a full sheet of plywood, or sheetrock. Fits a toolbox and still fits the bike with it in there, among other things. Also acts as a wonderful dumpster !

I couldn't ask for a better truck. I love it. Perfect work truck, excellent play truck, tows the boat like i forgot to even hook it up, haven't needed it yet, but should plow excellent, and more comfortable than i would ever have expected. She'll get me home, and that's what counts.

This photo came to mind for an example of why i needed a new truck:

i'm 16, I own the truck in my sig.
I think short boxes and half tons are ***** trucks, so I had to have a long box 3/4 ton or 1 ton. We also travel a lot going dunin', so towing was predicted in it's future. My dad wanted me to have something slow (diesel), of course that didn't last long when I found the chip in the glove box (removed by previous owner) and got it straight piped.
Had to have a 4x4. Comes in handy.
Wanted the extended cab so I have room for a bangin system, and reclining seats.
Part of my attraction to this truck was that my dad had a '96 when I was like 10. exactly the same as mine but a crew cab. I LOVED that truck. It was so beautiful. And I resented him for selling it until I got mine.
I was looking at another one exactly the same but with a 5 speed and a 97. I almost went with that one, but it was woman owned and she didn't maintain it. Still wish I had a 5 speed though...

OK i've ranted enough about why I got my truck. :D

29 had to dump the v-10 first of all. had to get a chevy. if i'm gonna get a truck , i'm gonna get a duramax. i have kids so it's a crew. 23 k with 76000 mi in great shape. this is my office i spend about 10-12 hrs a day in this truck. i think i was verry conservitive. let someone else take the loss. i've got a great truck for a great price.
