It has probably been asked before but what effect will 265 tires have on my 05 Duramax. What will it do to my power and fuel mileage are my primary concerns. Getting new tires Dec. 6th so I need all the help I can get. Not interested in any tires bigger than 265. Thanks. Bill

Power will not be much of an issue and mileage may vary depending on driving. Might need to raise torsion bars slightly but otherwise should be fine.

The 3500 SRW trucks come with 265 tires from the factory, so I would not expect much problem on a 2500HD other than your speedometer might read a little slow. (Theoretically approx 3.88% slow)

No issues here, and the speedo is right on the money. The ride is softer, as there is more volume of air to cushion the ride.

i wanted to get some 285's for mine but i have been thinking more and more about going with some 265's since i travel a lot of miles. At least they will look better than the 245's

I find that the 265's look great on the 2500HD's

I had to be carefull not to get to big a tire...I tow a 5th wheel, and the axles are already flipped and the setup is almost level.

I run 285s on mine and love em! Way better ride, fuel mileage is a bit better on the highway due to lower rpm at same speed, and they look way better!

It think the biggest thing for fuel mileage will be how aggressive of a tread you go with. The more aggressive the worst the mpg. I had 285's and lost 3-4mpg (BFG KO's D's). Went back to 265's (bfg ko E's) due to towing probs now and hope to gain the mpg back. You shouldn't have to do anything, like cranking bars up etc... I think there a perfect match for the truck and you won't notice any power loss other than it takes that jerkyness out of it when crawling over rough stuff. You'll barely notice any difference in stopping power. If your going to tow anything at all, get E rated tires, trust me.

Oh I know, I've heard it all. Either its the difference in the CC -vs- EC or I just got a really crappy set of D's brand new. I wont go with D's again, ever. If the E's don't work, I will be done with BFG's all together and put the stock tires and wheels back on. Still waiting to get to pull the camper to see.
