I went to the dealer today and had my low pressure switch on my A/C replaced. While I was there I was talking to the parts guy and he said that if you install any after market electronics on your truck you could start having electrical problems. I went straight to the service writter and asked him about it, he told me that GM does not won't you to put anything on you truck that it didn't come with from the factory (electrical). The service writter did say that it might not evey give you any problems. I have installed a after market radio,4 new door speakers, JL audio mono block amp, and two subs. I have had it in for about 3 months and no problems except for the A/C. Was just wondering if any one else has heard of this. Edited by: max04

Well......

I've installed aftermarket stereo (2 components, 2 subs, amp, total 1200 watts), Seven KC lights (125 watts each), Warn 9.5K winch, and dual altenators to power everything. I haven't had a lick of trouble with any of it yet.

No, on my last truck (2004 Chevrolet Z-71) I had monitors in the sunvisors, one flip down for the back and subs. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Hug.gif

would this also include a brake controler that one must buy and use the GM plug in to power it up.

max04, that could be an out for a dealer if your truck had an electrical problem. I would say as long as the aftermarket electronics are installed properly, you will have no problems. They may try to use that reasoning to avoid doing warranty work, but they would have to prove to me that my installations caused the problem.

flhrciblueice, the reason I got to talking to them about that is my truck did not come with factory fog lights and was thinking about getting some put on and the service dept showed me on the computer where GM says that when something after market is installed (electrical) the truck computer has to be recalibrated for the extra amps that it will draw. So far everything is good.

if you have a problem, take out all the aftermarket stuff and check out the problem. If it still exists, take it to the dealer. If under warranty he will have to fix it unless he can prove something he cannot prove caused the problem. . . dahhhh...
