i currently have a 4-6 trailmaster set around 5.5. i would like to upgrade my kit to an 8" lift. i was wondering if there is a way to reuse a majority/any of my existing lift to cut down on cost of the upgrade. thanks for any input.

Not sure, but you might as well go with a 10", you are just going to want more once you get the 8". :D

Are you going with bigger tires? It's going to look silly with a bunch of lift and no tire. I would keep the lift you have and trim the fenders or get some aftermarket ones. That way you're not messing up your center of gravity so much. Do it right, don't just keep jacking it higher into the sky, you'll look like a mall crawler. You want to be able to drive over more than a parking block without tipping over or destroying your back! One more thing, stay amay from big lift blocks, they can't take off road abuse well. The last thing you want to do is crack a block and spit it out on a trail in the middle of BFE.

It is best to keep a 4" -6" kit set @4" or a 6" -8" lift set @6" cranking the t-bars just wears out the balljoints and suspension.
