Here's a diesel newbie question.
I have CUCV Blazer that I converted from 24v to 12v and the alternator isn't charging the batteries. I pulled the alt. and had it tested, it's good. So my question is, could I have it hooked up wrong? Right now I have the pos. from the alt. going to the pos. junction block. Should I have it going directly to one of the batteries? Would that make a difference? It doesn't seem like it would, but I'm still a newbie.
thanks

Most of them are not wired quite that way, but it should work like that...

Sounds to me like you have a bad connection if the alternator really is working correctly. Proper grounding is particularly important, so you might want to run a ground strap right to the alternator and see if it helps.

Hi how about the little plug with 2 wires. They are the one who "activate" your alt if the contact is not good or not connect your alt wont work.

if its the stock military alternator on it, theres a isolated ground on the back of the alternator that needs a wire run to the ground of the engine, it originally had a wire from it to the positive of the other alt, ramping it up to 24 volts. had the same problem on mine, after I installed the ground wire it works great.
