Had new BF Goodrich Commercial T/A All Season tires mounted on 2006 Chevy Van rims. Not on the van yet (a 1997). The 4 wheels and tires have the following amount of weights:
#1 .75 oz Front of rim, 2.75 Back
#2: 1.25 oz Front, 2.75 oz Rear
#3: 4.5 oz Front, .5 oz Rear
#4: 3 oz Front, 1 oz Rear.

This seems like a lot of weight and I am suspect about future problems. Plus, I forgot to remove one of the weights that was on the rim and it is still on after the balancing which is shoddy.

I am considering returning the tires and asking for a new set or going to the Michelin LTX M/S.

Any comments and suggestions?

Thanks!

I got an average of 22-24 oz on one tire on mine! lol. But on a 245-285 that sounds pretty good I wouldn't worry about it. If you end up haveing a shimmie take it back and have whoever you bought it from give you and exchange.

I do my own mounting and balancing so I would have spent some time on the tire breaking it down and rotating it on the wheel or flipping the tire over to get the least amount of weight.

What he says.):h

We mount and balance our own also. With the Firestones and Brigestones we usually don't need more then 2-3 oz. I'd take them back and ask them to spend more time on that one.

Not surprising on BF Goodrich.

I had almost 6oz on one of mine and they put it up front. I ended up going with the ballancing beads and they work great. 5 months and 22000 miles no problems with them. 285's

Do a search and you will find a couple of threads on them.
