Sorry guys i dont meen to ask anotherone of these queustions. But i currently drive\own a 2003 LB7 and the dealer i buy all of my trucks from just called me and made me an offer i think i would like to take. the said they would trade in my truck and give me a 2004 model for $3000.00 more. A good deal or not please help. the things i am truying to avoid are catilactic converters and egr setups. the question i have are do all lly's have these or can you get them without them. and are there any other drawbacks to this new motor. what if i go to canada and bring one back will they still have these two pain in the but items or not. thanks for the feedback you guys are greathttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gifhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gifhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif

well it is only gong to get worse on the environment stuff. Probably smog checks in a year or two and probably strict on the 2006 or 2007 models. What's the problem with a CAT? been on cars for years. Cars have been using EGR's for years. My LLY with 8K runs fine. As for going to Canada and bring one back, you probably won't be able to register it in the US and warranty repairs probably will also be an issue.

Well, on diesels, cats are soot traps. My grandfather's Dodge plugged it's cat within two years, while he was towing his TT from New York to Alaska. Truck lost all power. Stopped, took the cat off, and the truck has run great since.

I am thinking about getting the Banks pipe that goes where the cat is, especially if/when I tow a 48' gooseneck from NY to AK. If I'm pulling 12-14k, the last thing I need is for the cat to plug and have zero power.

The tree-huggers are complaining about smog and such... can someone please explain to me how putting all the emissions junk on our cars and trucks and take them from getting decent economy, to getting half the economy and burning TWICE the fuel is good for the environment? Somehow, I can't see how burning MORE fuel can lower emissions, besides draining the earth's oil reserves twice as fast.

Hi, what is it a 2004 or 2004.5 the 2004.5 is lly. also it depends on the state (cat). In my state a cat is not require yet until 2006 and my 2004 does not have one.

Check yer VIN# Lennox. My understanding was ALL LLY trucks have the CAT.

It was also my understanding that ALL 'LLY' trucks have CAT, that is why I ordered my 2004 in November 2003 so I could buy a LB7 that was proven technology.

IIRC all light duty diesel trucks including LLY's built after 01/01/2004 would have Cats+EGRs for use in North America (50 states).
