Today I had to pick my son up from school and I had less than 1/4 tank when I left work. I normally buy fuel at 1 truck stop and figured I could make it :duh: . I'd pick him up and then get fuel on the way home. About 40 mile trip total.

While waiting for traffic at a intersection it died. I was getting out to try and prime to get it restarted and make it 300 yards to the truck stop when this guy in a Dod** Cummings stops and asks if I need a tow. He had a strap. Well I was at his mercy and he hooked up.

A Sheriff's Deputy shut down the highway while he pulled me across.

Not one of my proudest moments. He hung around while I was fueling up and priming it to make sure it would start. He did comment that it was a lot easier priming the Duramax than it was when he ran his out of fuel.

I guess when the DIC says I've used 25 gals. and have 35 miles left to go, it's off a little.

BTW, it held 26.5 gals. totally empty.

Mine will run out of fuel and the light will never come on, The range on the dic will read 35 miles. The truck has always been like this. When I get close to a 1/4 tank I fill up.

LOL!! Glad to see I'm not the only one. I was about 10 miles out from the next town when my low fuel light came on and "chimed" and no sooner had the chime stopped, and the truck did too! Lucky for me I died at the driveway of a logging contractor so I was able to give him a laugh and get some fuel.:o: Oh, and he was also a Dodge man so I took a bit of a beating there too!:p:

What makes it even worse is that a guy I work with has a PSD and he just found out about it. Of course if it had been A PSD, this would not have happened according to him.

The ribbings not over yet because everyone that knows me knows that when I bleed, that I bleed :chevy: .

I see you have a hypertech in your signature. This will greatly throw off the DIC projected mileage and gallons used. Don't trust it when tuned.

Thanks, I never realized that it would throw it off.
