I think the short block is basicly the same. The main changes were susposed to be heads, turbo, software, and of course emisions.

I was just giving you a hard time.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Approve.gif The short block is the same on all the Duramax 6.6L Diesel engines, so with that said. There are a few 700 rwhp trucks running around, and gobs of 500 to 600 rwhp ones. Hope that helps some.

I am far from an expert with the power limit, but I would not be surprised if we see 800 or more this year from the 6.6L Duramax.

Supersport asked a question that has been on my mind too. How much can the stock internals of this motor take? If you want to make serious power out of a gasser, you're looking at beefing up the crank, rods, pistons, etc.

With the diesel, we just hook up our modules, push a couple of buttons and add 100+hp and 200+ft-lbs of torque. That's a lot of twisting force coming off a stock crank.

I've been reading these posts for months and haven't heard about one throwing a rod out the side of the motor, but still wonder how far can we go...safely.What about longevity? Will these motors stay together for 100,000 miles cranked up?

I have 1 truck that will run low 14's at the strip right now and has over 160,000 miles on it. It has had the hot juice on it for over 130,000 miles. I have also stacked chips on a regular basis. Then of course I work the truck also. It is only without a trailer when I am hot rodding it. The transmission has been my only limiting factor when hot rodding. That and the front tie rod ends when lauching in 4wd. I can bend a new set in 1 launch when I am on the go pedal hard.
