I have a new to me 99 Suburban that has some issues... But one at a time :)

Last night while driving I noticed that the radio only has one light illuminated for the backlight... The left upper corner is illuminated and the rest is lights out where you cannot see a darn thing.

FWIW the rest of the dash and accessories are lit up fine.

Is the radio toast or is there a backlight I need to replace?

I have a 2001 Suburban with a similar issue. I was told that the bulbs in the radios are not replaceable, so I never pursued it. The thing is destined for a trade-in soon, so I just lived with it. You might want to call your local service department and ask them if it is possible to have the bulbs replaced.

From further reading I am assuming that the radio lights are like the dash lights and essentially LEDs that are soldered onto the board... Which means I am not touching it :)

Time for a new radio I suppose :(
