Gentlemen,

My black 2500HD came with a grey pinstripe that I want to remove. I am assuming it was added by the dealer b/c it has a very small Chevy bowtie on the front quarter panel and back quarter panel about half way along on each.

I do not have much experience in this arena, but from messing with it, it seems to be painted ON TOP OF the clearcoat. I have done alot of "googling" and there seems to be many opinions on how to remove (or not remove) a painted-on pinstripe. There is a thread on this sight, but it ends abruptly with no solution.

Anyone have any ideas for me, suggestions on how to do it myself or where to take it to get it done (I am in Austin, TX)?

Once again, I am assuming it is painted on by the texture of it and by the way the very end tip "chipped" off when I tried to get underneath it with a razor blade in order to possibly pull it off like a decal.

Thanks in advance!

Go back to the dealer and speak to them. The guy who put it on can take it off. I 've seen them do it on ones the chip and peel .

You're in austin? What dealer did you buy from? How long ago did you buy it?

Ben just used some acetone or something... didn't seem to harm the paint either.

i personally would be afraid to remove it, since the chance of messing with the paint, especially on a black truck, but thas just me. why are u wanting to remove it? im considering putting one on my truck, mayb a dark charocoal to match my interior color, got any better pics of it?

In case anyone cares, I got the painted on pinstripe off with EZ OFF over cleaner in the yellow can. Sprayed it on, left it for 30 min, wiped it off, waxed the areas and it looks fantastic.

I used laquer thinner and worked quickly in the small area of the pins tripe, then washed it off right after with water and soap. WOrked perfectly. Oven cleaner dindt seem to work for me :confuzeld:
