Hey guys,

I just finished my installation of my tranny pan everything went smoothly. Made sure the O-ring was on the deep pan internal filter and the magnet was on the spin on. So, I poured 10 quarts per the instructions. I took it for a test drive and it shifted great but the shifter was alot harder to get in gear than before. So, I brought it back and checked it running while hot and the line was below cold! So turned the truck off and i put another quart and that made it nearly to hot so I dropped the last quart and that made it perfect. I cranked the truck back up and checked it while running and it showed it down a little. What gives?http://dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Confused.gif Edited by: dieselboostfreak

somtimes it has to burp.. Nick, what does that mean? Is 12 quarts to much? Also, I got that filter kit to work. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Clown.gif

you can get air in there and it may need to burp it out which can cause you readings.. also it should be checked when warm on level ground.. i can't remember the capacity w/ deep pan but i thought it was 14 quarts.. its more if the converter is allowed to drain fully or removed..

Okay guys,

After thinking about it all night, I got up this morning and drove the truck around until the tranny heated up to normal temp and checked it and was a quarter of an inch or maybe a little bit more below hot. Should I leave it there? Also, the shifter is still hard to get in gear. Its just really stiff for some reason. Any ideas?

Funny you should mention the harder shifting shifter, mine is doing the same thing after I installed my Mag-tec and synthetic fluid too.

I am planning on dropping the pan again next week to take a look inside and see if anything got pinched by the bigger filter.

It sounds like there is something out of place. Did you make sure you re-installed the inside filter/screen in the proper direction? I have the Allison deep pan. (The one that they list as standard pan) and everything worked exactly the same as with the shallow pan. (The one GM had designed for ground clearance)

Don't know hdmax, I'm pretty sure I installed it the right way. I think it will only fit one way other wise it will hit the pan when you try to reinstall.

Also noticed that sometimes although my shifter lever is all the way over where park should be it won't engage the parking pawl and the indicator light is some where between reverse and park.

Then when the truck rolls a few inches the light will indicate park and the doors will unlock like they should.

All started after the mag-tec pan and the synthetic fluid, no problems before.

I don't think I moved the shifter cable on the tranny when I changed over, but I'm not sure, I'll check this week when I drop the pan again.
