Quick question about the Non-Lux nav unit. I was excited today when she came in and just wanted to throw her in. I didn't even have the antenna but i wanted to see what it looks like. It got power, had the door chimes going, and ejected the nav disc just fine. The screen stayed black and did not turn on. I expected something like "VIN Locked" to be displayed on the screen like the ebay auctions show but it was just black. Just wanted to make sure this was normal... i have NOT unlocked the unit yet and i did NOT remove the fuse either.

BCM controls the PMM (power mode master) functions for everything. The radio will not turn on unless it recieves a class 2 message to tell it to turn on. You said nothing else electrical worked? Porbably something with the PMM circuit/function in the BCM because NOTHING in the truck has a dedicated "ignition power" wire. They all have +12v constant and are told to turn on when the ignition is switched on by class 2 data.

She didn't work in the suburban either so i ripped it apart and...

Figured it out!!! The previous owner had a PAC video adapter and instead of replacing the ribbon, chopped off the connector :eek: why would someone do that!?! Anyhow the ends that were cut were touching each other here and there so i'm guessing that is what is making it not work?? I moved the ends out of the way but haven't re-installed yet. Maybe i need the stock ribbon for it to work again??

OK so i plugged it in now with the wires staying away from eachother and the screen still isn't turning on. Does this new ribbon cable need power for everything to work?? I would just go ahead and buy the PAD a/v adapter but i dont want to buy it and still have the screen not work. So i guess where i'm at is i need the stock ribbon cable that gets replaced with the intergration upgrade. Anyone have one??

I think you have problems with the NAV. Mine is starting to do what you describe. I would like to see if anyone knows.

What is going on with yours??

As of right now everything is working just fine. At other times it does exactly what you describe. I don't know that when I get in my truck next time if it is going to turn on or not though. It still has power. I can eject cd and hear it read from it. I hit the power button and the clock comes up. But no sound or video
