<DIV class=postcolor>I am looking at a couple of differrent trucks and wondering what kind of fuel mileage to expect, on a 2500 hd regular cab 4x4. The Duramax has impress me the most, but with the truck over the 8800 lbs no printout is available on fuel mileage. Also a friend said I should be concern about the aluminum heads, since iron and aluminum cools at a differrent rate. Any help and information would really help. Thanks http://www.gm-trucks.com/forums/html/emoticons/patriot.gif </DIV>

I've been getting 13.5 MPG in-town (denver, serious stop and go) and 9.5 MPG pulling our 12,500 fiver. Highway was 16.5 - 17.5, at least when the truck was brand new (haven't driven on the highway without the trailer in awhile).

Don't know about the iron and aluminum, but what I do know is never shut off a diesel right away after running hard. Let it cool to idle temp before shutting it down or damage to the turbo can occur... especially if you were WOT or pulling hard before the idle.

Are you talking about new or used? If used what year?

Refilled mine for the first time tonight with 9.38 gallons at 162 on the odometer and that calculates to 17.3 m.p.g

My mileage is right on par with Happy Camper's mileage for what it is worth. Maybe my Edge chip will help it out some now !??

My 2002 had 45,000 "HARD" miles with many different performance chips and also pegged the 35lb boost gage at times and NEVER had trouble with those aluminum heads or gaskets. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Approve.gif

I live in an area with nothing but 2 lane roads and very few stoplights. I get a sold 20-22mpg at 60 mph on 2 lane highways, 16-18 mpg on paved around town roads at 35mph, and mileage is horrible at slow speeds and in stop and go traffic I got 7 mpg running 10 mph on a two track. My average since new is right on 19 mpg with 2500 miles on the truck. I have not towed yet. I have a 2004 LLY with Allison 2500HD 4x4 extended cab unmodified. I drive like a grandma.

Basically if you live in LA metro, your mileage will stink. If you live in Willston ND it will be great. I get the same MPG as my 2000 Toyota Tacoma with a 150 hp 4cyl 4x4 standard cab. The Taco is a nice woods truck but can't tow a motorcycle and is about as comfortable. Believe it or not my full coverage insurance is CHEAPER on the Silveradohttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Confused.gif

I have a reg cab 4x4 and get 18-19 MPG, hand calculated. Both in town and highway driving on every tank. I don't drive like grandma, but I don't hot rod... also I have the Juice/Attitude set on level 3/low boost level 1.
