why would ya wanna do a thing like that? the way gas prices are right now i think you would want to be switching the other way.

250,000 miles and shes tired to much to invest in fixing the diesel, gas motors are cheaper to maintain.

I disagree. Diesels have fewer moving parts and are designed to last longer.

Engine, flywheel, clutch and pressure plate stay together.

Just drain tanks and lines, can use the electric in-line Diesel pump for carb, or AC universal equivalent - 7psi, or so.

Transfer p\s pump to 350 brackets to retain hydro-boost braking.

Firewall has plugged location for throttle cable.

Standard accel pedal and bracket direct swapout.

Adapt TPS off inj pump to carb for 4L80E control.

No cooling problems with that big radiator.

Understand, now - I'm just answering your question. Wouldn't EVEN consider it, myself.

Nothing like Eau de Diesel.

And then, there's that siren call of a wailing turbo.......http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cool.gif

Well thanks a bunch for the nice and direct answer to my question. Please dont get me wrong folks if i were to go and buy a new truck it would be a chevy with a diesel no question about it.But in my real world finances direct me to change to what i know thats gas and a carb.Sure it was nice not worrying about plugs and wires, but in my area im forced to heavy equipment repair shops for any diesel service and frankly its hard to trust someone you dont know to work on your vehicles.I have always done my own repairs.I did hub assemblies on both sides of my truck ball joints whatever, but now the motor well i have no clue it started with stalling then starting now its crank no start.Which as i have read here in this forum is very common. So for all you diesel fans out there there will be a 6.5turbo motor for sale in the very near future.Peace to all and thanks again gmctd.

Now for the indirect.
Your stalling and it's not starting now, ok sounds familiar.
Did you get the trouble codes?
Jump pin"A" to"B" on ALDL, engine off key on. it will give two number codes.
It doesn't require a genuis to make it work just a little testing to narrow it down.

I just went through hell with mine. lots of codes indicating the IP, stalling, running in limp mode.
Turns out I had fuel leaks off the filter housing that caused it all. It didn't leak enough to really notice but drive it 300 miles and I had to limp it home.
I guess once enough air gets into the IP it can't do it's job right..
