Right when I think ive got it figured out, I end up finding another truck that throws everything off again....

Now, theres this 2001 crewcab lariat 4x4 w/the V10.. I dont really need the 4x4, but its hard as heck to find a 2000+ F250 4x2 Crewcab "Lariat" w/ the V10.... Almost all the trucks like that are 4x4's.... Unless I go with an XLT, which are fine, but I want a Lariat.

So, my questions on this one are:
1. Do you think $23k is to much for this truck w/54k miles?
2. How much power and MPG do you give up with a 4x4 as compared to a 4x2?
3. Is non-use of the 4wheel drive system as bad for it as over use?
4. How does this truck compare to a same year and style truck w/the PSD?
Thanks...

Some of these questions may seem pretty lame, but i'm just trying to get as much unbiased info as possible....
Thanks!

1. Ya, I think thats too much $$. You should be able to get a diesel XLT for that much.
2. You really wouldnt notice much loss in power. Maybe be down 1 or 2 mpg.
3. Ya, you would be well advised to useit once a month, or every 3000 miles or so. My guidelines.
4. See # 1.

5. Why are you asking about a Ford on a GM site? You are more than welcome to, but the dieselstop.com is pretty good.

Good luck

I agree price is too high but not using 4x4 much is not a issue. I have a 89 burg 4x4 with 170k and the 4x4 has been really used maybe 2 dozen times in its life and still works fine when needed. It can go a year without even being engaged too. As long as it is properly seviced and the hubs checked and repacked if needed every 3 to 5 years it will have no problems being used as a 2wd truck.
