I will change my externial oil filter at 24,000kms.
Is this to early or should I wait until I have more kms and change oil and internal filter.
I pull a FW about 60% of the time.
I like to be early in oil changes and never late.
Any suggestions on a good time to change for the first time.

I change my spin-on filter every 5k miles and will be changing the fluid at 50k miles.

Same here, filter change every 5,000, and putting in TranSynd, deep pan, FilterLok, and deep filter...

I change mine about every 2,000 miles (sometimes more often) and drop the fluid every other change. I'm pretty hard on my tranny though.

Spin-off every 10000km. Tranny fluid every 45000km. Depends alittle bit on apllication/use of truck though.

Allison states that the spin-on filter must be changed within the first 5,000 miles, then at every trans oil change after that. I change mine at every engine oil change. Considering that I pay $7.93 for the genuine Allison filter at my local GMC Medium Duty dealer, I figure it's cheap insurance.

It looks like I am far behind in changing the filter.
It will be changed tomorrow with a genuine allison filter.
Thanks for the info.

Don't forget to clean and re-use the filter magnet and put some new fluid in the filter before installing. If you do the change with the tranny cold, it will be a easier job...
