I am looking into purchasing a set of tires, 265/75/16. Which tires would you recommend? My bugdet is $150.00 or less for each tire. Also has anyone ever purchased tires from Pep Boys, Futura Dakota AT or MT Tires?

Two months ago I purchased some 285/75/16 Firestone Destinations and am very happy with them...the 265 should be with-in your price range. Good luck shopping!

MrTruck;

This past summer I bought a set of Futura Adventurers HT for my 2500 HD. I have about 7k miles on them so far and they are working ok. Bought them from PEP Boys in Albuquerque, NM. The guy at PEP Boys told me Futura is made by Cooper and the lettering looks just like the Coopers I had on it before, just spells Futura now instead of Cooper. I really wanted to get a set of Toyos but couldn't find a Toyo place when we had the blowout in Albuquerque. I put a set of Toyos on my big truck and my Pontiac and really like them.:)

Hope this helps,

Bill S.

Another vote for the Firestone Destination ATs. I got the 265/75r16 size for $118 each. Only LRC but I seldom do heavy towing. So far I really like them and they did well on my '96 Suburban last winter:D

I had a set of the Futura's before and they were fine. The price is great on them.

as for cheaper tires there are alot that are made by big companies

elderado/futura=cooper
dayton=firestone
winston=bf goodrich

there are a few more i cant remember them all but all big tire companies usually own another company that they sell the same tires rebadged for alot less. it kinda works like guitars ephiphone and gibson are exactly the same just one is assembled by cheaper foreign labor so it cost half as much.

I run Mastercraft AT's and CT's and they are a good tire that holds up well and will run for along time. Priced well within your price range. good luck

I have Ridge Runner Radial's (i was told by two different tire shops that these are made by GoodYear... but i could have been lied to and be wrong?!?!?!)

They are 265's and I love the look, ride, etc. I'm pretty sure these are less than or around $150/tire... but again, i could be wrong

Sorry I dont have more info but i thought these might be something you would want to check out

here's a pic

I bought some 285 sport kings for $145. They are not an aggressive tire but have a lot of tread. Also they are made by michelin so you know they are good quality.
