Met up with my buddy last weekend. His dad was over and also has a Dmax (01). He has a monster camper that he pulls on a regular basis... Anyway we were talking about fuel filters and he said the dealer told him not to worry about it until 100,000 miles!! I said ok how often do you change it? I haven't he repliedhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Ermm.gif. Truck runs fine and he hasn't had any problems. Go easy as he was going by what the dealer told him. I told him about this website so He's probably laughing at our Pre-Post fiter paranoia by now.

Goes to show the injectors aren't made of glass but I'll stick to 10,000 mile filter changes.

It has to have punched through by now and is not filtering anything. Bet his balance rates are starting to go out of whack....

I can tell when my filter starts clogging. My wife starts commenting that "Alley Kat" (our truck's name) is getting sluggish. Pop a new filter in and she comes back to life. She starts to slow down at about 7K.

I bet a new filter would just bring a lot of pep back into this 80K truck that the owner just didnt' realize was gone.

I'm with PC on this one, that filter has probably "channeled" and perforated a long time ago and is now as effective as a screen door for filtering.

Hellooooooo.....right in my manual it says every 15K miles....and I have had 1 or 2 give up the ghost at 7K....I changed every 7500 until I added a pre-oem filter, hoping to get 15K but already have both spares in the truck just in case......

I just changed mine again last week, it had been about 17k since I had done it. Well...........like Rockin said, this truck came back to life. It reminded me of when I flashed my computer with only the 50hp level.

I couldn't believe it, the truck had slowly lost power and I wasn't even aware of it. Now it's business as usual. Man do I love my truck!http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Clap.gif

From the looks of my fuel filters upon inspection, I know I could get 40,000 if not more from the primary filter. I change it every 20,000 miles + or - a few hundred.

Now the Racor post 2 micron is a different story. (It`s the 60 series, so it isn't very big) Before 10,000 miles it is telling me to get a new one in there. When it gets close to the 10,000 mile mark I have to bleed the fuel line if the truck sets more then about 12 hours.
