I use Stanadyne lubricity formula because I feel the added lubrication is more important that everything else the additives offer combined. Mixed with good filtration should protect us from everything excepte manufacturing defects.Edited by: Amric

Lots of oppinions on this subject ... http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Confused.gif

I use Stanadyne Performance formula and (don't laugh http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Embarrased.gif ) ... a dash of TCW3 2-cycle oil.

Also see GM's take on Diesel Fuel additives...

I now run RotillaDFA and a dash of Polaris synthetic 2-cycle oil. I used to run FPPF but it's a pain to come by. Supposidly the Rotilla has a lot of lube added into it and I think thats the most important part. Mike-

I use Primrose.

This additive is a water emulsifier (contrary to GM recommendation as written up at the link supplied by jbplock above). Previously used Stanadyne, but ended up with some strange growth at the bottom of my fuel filter. Subsequent filters have been extremely clean with Primrose.

So - I'm a total n00b when it comes to this stuff. This is my first Diesel.

I've got a new LLY, with abot 3200 miles on it. Should I be adding something to the fuel with each fillup? Help a brotha out!

BTW - I'm in South Texas, where its hot as hell.

I use the Lucas with every tank. The only thing I've noticed on changing the filter is water in it, but that's supposed to be there right?

http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Thumbs Up.gifJust talked to the owner of our local oil company today. He sells and delivers home heating oil, has a small tank farm with Mobil gas and fuel pumps, fills LP tanks, as well as selling oils and supplements. Been looking for a local place to buy fuel, one that has a bigger business and pumps more fuel than the corner gas station. He carries the Mobil Delvac 1 in larger containers than qts, but still about $5 @qt. In a conversation about supplements, he says that he buys Primrose in bulk, and puts 405 in his tanks in the summer, and 409 in the winter blend. Does this sound too good to be true? Do you suppose that he puts enough in to not warrant adding some more of my own at each fillup? If I priced it right, it's about $32 + shipping for 6-12oz bottles at Avlube. I know that too much probably won't hurt, and $40 is still cheap insurance, but if he puts it in, it doesn't seem necessary. He has a lot of business customers with dump trucks, tractors, etc. so I'm guessing that maybe he does it for their business. He sells Power Service supplement and cetane boost in qts and gallons, so I'm going to try that. Am thinking of asking him to sell me some of his bulk Primrose in my container. What do you guys think?
