Hi, I have a 2006 Chevy D-Max witht the LLY motor and the 6 speed Allison Trans. The dipstick says it has Dexron III fluid, and I was wondering how much fluid it holds in the factory pan with an external filter change.

I dont understand why it says Dexron III on the dipstick then? Makes no sense of why they would post Dexron III and want you to put DexronVI ? Oh well, Does any1 know how much it holds?

You may have gotten an old dipstick from the factory but they do require Dex 6. Transynd is much better and 8.5 qts should cover you.

To answer your original question about how much does the factory pan hold...it's about 7.5 quarts.
