I am amazed at the break pad on my 04.5 Duramax. This is the first vehicle with disk breaks that does not blacken, or redden the wheels with break dust with factory linings.
To keep my wheels clean on my 97 1500 I had to use after market ceramic linings.
So, what's on the 2500HD Durmax?

Melvin, don't know what was with your 97' but I haven't had any GM factory pads get my wheels dirty. My 01' dmax is clean with 41k miles, my 98 Tahoe is clean with 69k miles and my 95 Z28 is clean with 80k miles, and their still the original front pads. Thank in itself amazes me.

rougedriver,
Thanks for the feed back. Every disk brake GM product I have ever owned blacken the wheels.
My first first GM disk brake vehicle, 1985 K5 Blazer, 1987 Buick GNhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Heart.gif, 1997 1500 Z71, and now my 2500HD Duramax with the best brakes ever on any vehicle in 47 years of driving. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Hug.gif Somewhere, some place GM done something with some of their brake pads. Some do and some don't blacken the wheels.
I am sure others have noticed some GM vehicles blacken the wheels and some don't. My 04.5 don't and I am sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo happy. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Hug.gif
