Hello eveybody...Whats going on. New member here... going to pick up a used truck tomorrow. Have a question? whats this LLY,LB7, and LBZ stand for? I notice some of the members refer to the trucks with these intials? what do they mean? How do I know or how can I tell what mine is? Besides asking the dealer I'm buying it from. I'll post up some picks as soon as I can. I'm pretty excited about finally being able to get a crew cab diesel!! Yeah!! I bought a new toy hauler and didn't think my k1500 gmc Z71 would be able to handle the weight comfortably. What do you guys think did I make the right move? By the way cool website from what I can see so far.....

The letters are specifying the engine option for each truck. You'll notice that the newer models change more frequently however. I'm not 100% for sure, but I do know the 01-04 is the LB7, the 04.5-05 is the LLY, and the early 06 is LLY(but is different than 05) and late 06 is LBZ. The rest is where I'm not for sure. That basically says that there are changes to each model, whether large or small. I'm no expert though.

Not Much?.....Sounds tricked out enough to me..Looks hella nice....I plan on doing mods to mine also but im sure it will be a while before I have half the mods you have... What do you recommend in investing first as far as motor performance. I'm not a racer but would like to unleash more of that Dmax power.. I just bought a Toy hauler acually before I bought the truck. I traded in my 02 gmc z71. All I can say is I'm loving my new 05 crew cab dmax it's pretty much stock except for a custom grill. Have you had any problems with overheating? From what I've read in here sounds like some people in here have with the same year truck?....

I haven't had the overheating problem that i've also read about. Thank goodness. The first mods you should do are exhaust and air intake. The more air it can take in, the more efficiently it removes it, therefore the more power potential you have. Hopefully your mileage goes up too. Have fun with your new truck.
