Does the stock deck ( 6 Disc Changer ) play mp3's. I know I could go find out but Im already at the computer and will let someone that has already tried give me an answer.

I have the single in dash CD and it will not play MP3's. If the 6 disc changer will, let us know, I would like to swap mine!

i tried the 6 disc this weekend and i gave up after waiting about 45 seconds and nothing, is it possible to make it read mp3 through programming or is it not worth it?

probably not worth it, just install a new deck for $200 and be done with it. Better sound out of aftermarket anyways.

You will have to convert the MP3s to .wav files; then the CD will play.

dalwolf,

the .wav format is the standard CD format, such as you would buy a music CD from a 'record' store. My 6-disc won't play MP3's. The problem with the .wav format is there is no compression available so you are stuck with just as many songs as you can fit on the particular type of CD you have, and whether or not you can overburn to the disc. About 75 or 76 minutes is about all I've ever been able to burn to a disc. The MP3's of course use pretty good compression, so you can put 150 or more songs on a CD, depending on a few factors.

It sure would be nice to have the factory changer take some MP3 CDs so you could have close to 1,000 songs on tap.
