How much hp and torque does the stock second generation Duramax LLY 2004.5 have? I've been getting varying answers from dealerships who don't seem to know squat. Can anyone help me with this? Thanks, Andrew

The correct numbers are: 310 HP and 590 Torque

keep in mind that those are numbers produced at the flywheel, not to the ground....ive seen my trucks dyno #'s and mcrats so far, i dynoed mine at 262hp and 477torque - stock and i believe mcrats were pretty close to that as well

Thanks so much. Appreciate the info. I was very surprised to find out about the rear wheel hp and torque. Are you satisfied with your second generation Duramax? And if you're not quite, have you thought of after market upgrades? I own a construction company and just bought a 4500 series dump truck with the first generation Duramax and Allison. I found an after market source you might be interested in, I'm looking into it. Bully Dog technologies, they have everything necessary to fairly inexpensively enhance the power and performance of the Duramax. Which I think has a lot more potential than the stock motor does. Anyway, again, thank you very much, Andrew

By the way, Welcome to "The Place" drew212.

Since you were saying what the dealerships were telling you, then what I posted was correct for dealerships to put out, as these are the published numbers GM puts out.

Good call on that Steve - i was somewhat surprised to know that they always tell you numbers produced at the flywheel - but why is that if you cant get it to the ground ??

Drew - many other options that are better than the bullydog for producing more power IMHO... I can only speak for the LLY but ive tried pretty much everything out there now for them in regards to power enhancers
