Previously posted, somebody was able to get in using other GM Keys. Find some and try them, the door tumblers only use a faction of the key, the ignition switch uses all of the key.

GM roadside assistance has a lockout service is covered under the bump to bumper IIRC. Or get your vin go to the stealer they can make a key from the vin#.

If you don't have OnStar, call GM Roadside Assistance. I had to do it once while on a trip to Florida and they were GREAT!

Wife left her purse in the truck with the spare keys in it and locked the doors with the other set of keys in the ignition and went to the bathroom as I was filling up at the pump. I called the GM Roadside Assistance center and they called a local dealer, gave him the key code and I got a ride there and picked up a new key. It cost me $10 for the key and GM said that they would reimburse me, but I figured that was a cheap lesson.

Borrowed my mom's '06 Buick and locked the keys in it. Local locksmith got into it in under a minute. Cost $75 but it was worth it. I did have to talk to two locksmiths to find one that could do the job. Don't imagine that a Silverado would be any harder than a Buick.

these are all great ideas but if your phone is in your truck, you have to get getto you can pull the top of the door open enough to slide a wire or some kinda strap down and hit the unlock button...but if you lock it with your keypad that wont work I lock mine with the keypad then locked the keys in it luckely the keypad was facing up in driverside seat and could hit it with stiff wire

I sell tools to mechanics and towing companies. Most tow trucks these days have a plastic wedge, mini air bag and a long unlocking rod to get into virtually all vehicles. At least here in New York they do. Good luck.

For future use...........

I saw someone take a welding rod or long stiff wire and shove it down between the door seal and push the top of the unlock button on the door. Took all of 20 seconds.

In sweden we have similar tools, best of all - there is no damage on the paint.

carry a spare in wallet

I also have one hidden on the truck body as one time I locked my keys and wallet in truck:mad:

I haven't found a vehicle yet that the coat hanger hasn't gotten me into.

My favorite blue collar comedy joke by Bill Engvall

"you lock your keys in your car? Nope just washed it, hanging it to dry. Heres your sign!"

If you don't know, his joke is people who ask stupid questions should have to wear a sign "STUPID"

I locked mine in the 2nd week I had it and I was 800 miles for home. Call Onstar and paid for the service on the phone and within 5 min.'s they had my truck unlocked. $ 18.00 per month. Going to cancel as soon as I can and now I have a spair in my billfold.

Whatever car or truck I get into, I always make sure I have two sets of keys in my pockets. Is a easy way to get in. I have been locked out a couple of times, and two sets cure the problem..

Get a hide a key with a spare key in it. I have mine in the rear fender well in the frame channel that goes to the other side of the truck.

Or use Duct tape to tape a key onto some wire somewhere under the truck. If anyone ever sees it, they will just think its some redneck splice...

Best place to keep a spare is behind the 3rd break light. 2 screws and she's out... best part is its weather proof and you don't need to get on the ground or get dirty looking for a key :thumb:

This is something someone sent my way by E-Mail. Sounds like BS to me and I don't have a cell phone to test it. If you have a cell phone with you and have the remote door locking, you call home or somewhere or someone who has the other remote for your vehicle. Get in close proximity to your truck and have the other party push the unlock on that remote and it will, again I think it's BS, unlock your doors..

You are correct.... it is BS. It's been discussed before and will not work. BTW - you must be the last person in North America to not have a cell phone....(j/k).

Not really, a rock or something to break the lens would work... Easier than calling someone, or enduring the " I told you so" from the ball and chain..

You sound like you want to go to prison. Beating someone with a club will cost less in the long run than shooting them.:)

Nothing wrong with it, I was just messing. I read your security part in your garage and it's always good to have one of them Monkey hitters.

Nothing better than a "money hitter" thats for sure... where do you think the term money wrench came from?? its what all the plumbers were keeping in thier vans so they could knock out the shadows trying to break in ):h

Duct tape the screwdriver to a wiring harness instead of the key or find "Hide-A-Key" of biblical proportions to hide the phillips:secret:Or make sure you lock your kid inside with the keys & call the fire department:idea:

For the "hide a key" thing.. DONT use the expensive 'transponder' keys that will allow your truck to start, just get a dummy key to open the door.. I bet i could steal 100 cars around here without having any troubles with the keys.. The ones we see when they are up on the hoist are always in stupid obvious places.. At least make sure they cant steal your truck if someone finds it. They'll get everything in it but, thats better than everything.

some of you might have lock-out coverage thru your insurance and don't know it. call your insurance provider and ask.
