Heard about aftermarket connecting rods, who has them available? What power level is it strongly suggested to start using them? How much do they cost?

We have rods in stock. We recommend once you go above 500 - 550 RwHp it's time you should start looking at it. Sure you can do it on stock internals but most have learned it's much cheaper in the long run to get them done before windows start to appear.

We have 4340 Billet rods available. You will want to have a set if you plan on reliably running more than 550hp. There have been plenty of others that acheived this goal on stock rods, but keep in mind you could be rolling the dice.

PM for price or this will get moved to another forum.

Wade

This is what I was told....................

Hi Steven,

We will have forgings for diesel rods next week.
Production will be about 8 weeks.
These will be made to order at this time we will probably start stocking at some point.

Your cost for these rods will be $3600.00 per set.

If you contact ATS Diesel Performance. They would be our biggest distributor for these.

Best regards,

I'm personally not sold on the H-beam design for high cylinder pressure diesels. I don't think it puts enough metal where it needs to be (back ot the moment of inertia discussion)....

Does anyone have a solid technical paper on H vs. I with some FEA to show the differences?

What kind of power levels have these rods been test to?

We've dyno'ed Clints truck at 936hp and have dissasembled his motor recently to evaluate his motor and the rods haven't changed at all. Still exactly the same lenth and dimension as the day they went in.

What would it cost to have them installed at a machine shop, or at TTS, 2,500 + what? I know I'm gonna neeed them very soon

Are you looking at the cost to install rods in a motor you have pulled out or are you looking for someone to do it all? Big price difference. As far as power levels go our designed rods power the 2 quickest Duramaxes in the country and have been running for quite along time in many others. How much they will truely hold we do not know until someone breaks one. After a year of power levels above 800 HP we pulled a set back out and found nothing wrong so they went back in.

I can't vouch for the others - but I can without a doubt say the TTS rods have held up to STUPID horsepower (see signature for proof) and cylinder pressure (can you say 7.0 lbs of n20 per pass.... ).

I've heard the Crower rods won't clear the crank and have to be machined before they are installed. Are the ATS and TTS ready to go or do they need some work first?

bobo I think I almost remember hearing something about the crower rods need clearancing on LB7's but not on LLY's. Or there was something else that made them a "drop in" replacement on LLY's but not directly drop in on the LB7's.

I dunno, probably way wrong tho :confuzeld:

AFAIK they do not come machined. Any machine shop can clearance the rods, that is not at all an involved task. They dont not come clearanced because it takes metal out of the rod making it weaker. (some trucks dont need clearencing)
