How Bout Cha, this is my first time on the site, and had to sign up. I love all the input and info i can get out of this site. Ok, ive been looking for a Duramax for quite some time, and am going to purchase one soon. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/HiHi.gif Now i want to run the Edge with Attitude and another programmer, not sure yet. But i want to put in one of the Suncoast Transmissions that they have. If i bought one from there, what else do i need? Does it come with a torque converter? Or should i just put in a Stage 3? If so, what all do i need to buy from Suncoast besides the transmission or the stage 3? Any info would be great.

rubipwr,

My recommendation would be qualified by the condition of the transmission in the truck you purchase. Normally the alli holds up very well in a stock truck. If the trans is still in good condition then I would recommend a Stage III. Unless you are planning on "stupid" power and competive drag racing or sled pulling, this would handle your power upgrades and be the most econnomical.

The master himself answered your Suncoast questions, dont get more reliable then that. When your ready to harness all that power, there is a good shop in SW Michigan that can do the install for you. Suncoast L3's are seemingly VERY popular there.

Sheesh....

All those questions I pestered Mike L. and others with about Suncoast upgrades and prices and I never got a response like a new guy with his first post.

I'm impressed...http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Geek.gif

Oh well, I'm still going to have to bug smoop about a recommended shop in my area when I get a little closer to having the Stage III funds in my pocket.

Sorry Eric, but if that fails, LA is a lot closer than MI...http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Ermm.gif

Zeeb, if you ever find yourself in LA. I'll let you drive a weak truck with an ATS. Just for comparisons sake of course.Edited by: Trippin

There's atleast one weirdo in MI but he sure does some awsome tranny work!!http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/HiHi.gif

Suncoast III just installed and I can't flog it enough. However, one big disadvantage to a modded tranny is your fuel economy suffers drastically!! hehehehttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif

3 more days till race day and the first test of the new tranny. Looking to pick up about 2 tenths or better. Eric, I'll let you know exactly!! Thanks again, luv the tranny. Also, made it home with an average speed of 73mph. See what I mean about poor fuel economy!!http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/HiHi.gifhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/HiHi.gif
