Just installed a set of guages in my 2007 Classic (Boost & EGT) the pyrometer doesn't seem to be reading right. When the engine is cold after sitting overnight the guage will read 250 degrees. Is this normal? cruising at 70 MPH with about 3.5 to 4 lb.s of boost it reads about 350 to 375 degrees. Is this about normal? And when I accelarate past 3/4 throttle it buries the guage (past 1600 degrees) I have the Superchip Flashpaq installed on tow performance with a 4" turbo back from MBRP. Do you think that i have a defective pyrometer? Thanks in advance for any help.

When my truck first starts in the morning, the EGT reads around the 250 degree range. If the "high idle" kick on the temp jumps to around 320 degrees. Running down the Hwy, I see EGTs from 500 - 900 degrees depending on how much pedal I am putting to it. If I bury the pedal, I have seen 1050 degrees. It will really depend on exactly where your EGT probe is placed. That will change your reading a lot. As far as boost...I see 4 - 5 pounds cruzing down the Hwy at 65 - 70 mph. Hit the throttle and I see as much as 21 - 24 pounds. Don't know if this helps you or not. Maybe a few others can chime in on this as well.

The startup is normal, but only 300 or so cruising at 70 is fishy.

The reading in the morning is before I start the engine

I think you might have one of the gauges that Autometer has issues with. Call them and tell them what it is doing and they will more than likely send you a new one. They had a bad run of gauges and recalled some. Yours might have been missed.
