I have a new 3500HD crew cab 8' bed (LLY). The exhaust pipe is crimped a little just in front of the flange where it goes over the frame brace. The dealer said this is normal. Does anybody else have this crimp? Also, about 6" in front of the flange is a 8" diameter by 8" long something, the dealer says this is NOT a cat, but does not know what it is...HELP.

Pretty sure its the cat my friend, all lly trucks have one..dealers amaze me. I was picking up some parts the other day and a salesman came running in saying that he has a customer coming up to pick up his brand new excursion and it wouldn't start. It was a diesel, the guy didn't know you had to "wait to start", you know that little squiggley light has to go off...sheeesh.

Mine has the crimp on it too. Clearance for the cross member I assume..kind of extreme though since there appears to be plenty of room.

Mine has the crimp and the 8"x8" "something" is indeed the CAT. As dpower said, all LLY equipted trucks have a CAT.
