took the cheby to the shop to get the tranny looked at, for some strange reason it was slipping???http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif they called me back and said that there was a bad solenoid and they were going to have to order it, what are they talking about? and are they just pulling my leg? I only have 2500 miles left before I hit my 36,000 mile mark. Doesnt the tranny warranty run out after that? thanks for the help!!! -Jeff

It could make sense if a selenoid doesn't travel all the way in or out that it could only deliver partial pressure to the cluches via the valve associated with it and induce slipping in the tranny. Man that's a long sentence...Edited by: Maxter

Did you check the spin on filter? I heard of someone else that had that problem and replaced the spin on filter.

I remember reading about that not that long ago. If my memory is ok, I think it was said that all the oil going into the valve body has to go thru the spin on and if it is clogged somehow, slipping/bad shifting may occur.

However, if the dealership said it was a bad selenoid, it was probably detected by the tech2 tranny diagnostic and/or a code stored in the TCM. That verification is electrical in nature and doesn't take into account any oil pressure.

When I installed my transgo kit, I forgot to connect one of the selenoid and it was immediatly detected by the tech2. Very easy to repair.Edited by: Maxter

If the spin on filter is clogged, the damage inside is already done...

Does the spin on filter have a spring release like oil filters do? If not, why dont they?? I would rather have unfiltered fluid go through my trans than no fluid at all.
