okay i installed the new nsbu switch and the truck still acts the same stuck in third gear and wont shift out and very loud clunking sound when shifting to park.
but i do have my shift indicator lights.
so does anyone know what else could be the problem?

Time to do a pin out check at the trans connecter and work from there.

thanks for the quick reply.can you explain about the pin out connector?
i know its the connectors that go to the switch. should i check for corrosion or breaks?

A friend just had the same problems and took it to the dealer. It turned out to be the nsbu and the ignition switch.

Did you clear the codes after replacing the switch? That is very important to do.

no i did not clear the codes.i have to take the truck to dealer to clear the codes.i have no way of clearing them

update.okay went to the truck this morning to take to the stealership and the truck shifted fine.im like wow,so i went ahead and took it in to get the ses taken care of and the tech said it was the nsbu switch.so alls fine and dandy.the charged me $79.95 for clearing the code. so i want to thank all :) that has helped and have a wonderful and safe holiday.god bless,jeff

Good thing they didn't change the NSBU for you.
That would have cost an additional $179.95.
