A muffler is has chambers that redirect the exhaust to quiet the exhaust, a resonator is straight though similar to a glass pack but without the fiberglass.

StrokerSmoker24,

The MBRP mufflers are resonators we stock are basically the same thing except the resonators are shorter in length. Both are straight thru designs. They are very good at reducing/eliminating drone especially if they are mounted as far forward as possible!! They are available in aluminized and stainless steel too! If you have any questions let me know.

okay, i dont want my truck to be quiet. I have no muffler, no cat on it now and i like how it sounds, I want to upgrade to 4" all the way back and want to keep the sound. But i have also heard that the turbo needs the backpressure from the muffler. what can i do to keep the sound but get the backpressure i need for the turbo? Or do i not even need the back pressure??
Thanks again
