Well, I'm back again. As recommended by Howie I relocated the PMD. I didn't want it anywhere near the engine, so I mounted it under my dash with a thermometer attached so I can monitor it's temp in case it dies again. Temp has been 240+ without stalling! I have also replaced fuel lift pump, oil pressure switch, fuel pump sylenoid, and fuel and oil filters. An ongoing issue for 2 years has been the need to jump start (hot wire) the fuel lift pump on occaision to start, once running, no problem for months. Yesterday, once again, the truck stalled 3 times in 5 miles. PMD temp never went over 120 and lift pump needed jump start. Was low on fuel. Could there be anything in tank that can cause this irregularly? Ready to sell my rig. Need any suggestions to get it reliable and ready to sell.

Thanks again for all your help previously - need you again!

there is a replaceable screen sock that is on the pickup tube in the tank. tank will need to be drained and dropped for access. i rigged a piece of heater hose to one of those kero hand pumps to drain the tank 5 gals at a time and dumped all but the last 5 into my heating oil tank. thats high dollar heat! do-able in a day.

I'm not sure I follow, jump start it? like run a hot wire to the lift pump and it will run after that? Does it not run while the starter is engaged? Have you checked all your fuses? Even if there were trash or something in the tank plugging the inlet it wont affect whether the lift pump will work or not, need to fix the electrical problem with it or make a new circuit to run it. I reccommend wiring from a circuit on the fuse box thats hot with the key on or to a switch on the dash.

couldn't you splice in a new wire from the starter that would give the pump 12v when starting but put a diode in it and leave the factory wire connected to supply power after startup. that is, if it is supplying power after startup. texas diesel guy is right you do have an electrical problem. i was just answering your question about possible tank restrictions. gud luk
