Is it possible just to get the bottom part of the driver's seat from GM? Or is there any other way to keep the foam from collapsing?

I always slide out of the truck (bad habit) and its taking its toll on the left side of the driver's seat, if I look at it its noticably lower on the left than it is on the right. Its a cloth 40/20/40 seat in an '04 if that makes a difference.

I have the same issue, I usually put new foam in every two years. No a big job, buy the foam from GM , remove the side control cover, remove the two nuts the hold the front of the seat pan down, lift the front hight enough to clear the studs and pull foward, the are some wiring clips you will need to remove, remove cusion cover, put onto new foam restall cover onto seat pan, reverse the removal process, and your done. it a 30 min job, no special tools needed just a socket 13mm I think and a + screwdrive and a torx screwdrive

That doesn't sound bad at all! You don't happen to know the part number for the foam by any chance, do you?

Those of us restoring old mercedes with seat padding made of natural "horse" hair found a cheap trick a long time ago : replace the original padding with the closed cell foam "bananas' sold at Walmart for a couple of bucks a piece and made for kids to play (float ) in the pool .
It will do wonder and you will never have to replace it again !

Best way is to call you local dealer and give them the last 8 digits of your vin # then you know it's the right foam.:)

Its not just the foam that collapses , its the poor leather they use that wears through ! Mine has been replaced once and I have 53 k on them !

Anyone ever hear of replacing the bottom of a heated leather bucket in an 02? The guy that owned it before me was at minimum 100 lbs heavier than me and I'm 200 and with my bad sliding out habits the seat is going to S**t.
