Got a Billet output shaft coming for a customer tomarrow:ro)

Mike happened to mention it on the phone, he just opened the box and I purchased one from him before he could get it out of the box to describe it for me...

That shaft is a nice piece, a few small refinements and it will be awesome. I will be stock these for builds as well as the Billet Inputs.

The shafts ( 2 ) just arrived yesterday for fitting and Eric happened to call as I was opening the box. I overnighted one to him for install on a customers Alli. I will post a picture in the vendor section tomorrow.

It is a billet output shaft for the Allison. This and the billet input shaft is necessary for the guys that are running NOS or bigger turbos for drag racing and sled pulling. They are beginning to snap on a regular basis as we increase the power to these engines. Not everyone needs this; only the guys that break the shafts.:D

I have an addition for your shafts Mike that you can display with them. If you can keep one for display that is!!!!

So if you have billet input and output shafts, what's going to break next? Main problem I see with replacing the parts with stronger ones is now when you get too much power or just enough stress, something else is likely to break, and it could be worse than an IP/OP shaft.... There will always be something weak enough to break...

Cougar, thats the name of the game, find weak link, fix it and then find the next..

Knowing the machinist's reputation and attention to detail, I don't think there's any need to question the material he's using.
In other words, the feller knows what he's doing....:)

I don't doubt that ;) That doesn't change the fact that I want to know what I'm buying before I buy it.

As`soon as I have them in my grubby little hands I will post pictues. Intelligent Engineering is going to come out with some really neat things here pretty soon. You probably know what they are but I can't talk about them without Opie's permission. '06 was predicted to be the year of the Duramax and lived up to it with all the new innovative products that have come out. '07 should be equaly as successfull.

Well congrats to the both of you guys, you are both providing a needed service and parts for guys who like to break things.

You know the other stuff he has addressed, so, I will keep the lid on :o: as well

My opinion? Anything over 500RWHP/1000RWTQ while dragracing or pulling.:)

Juice I agree. With the big turbos out there the shafts can snap anytime. If you can keep the tires spinning under big power it is better than if your tires suddenly hook under big power: something has to give. Now we have built motors with huge turbos and twin turbos with custom tuning to contend with. Other parts in the Alli will begin breaking and we are addressing this issue right now.

Yes, we are seeing the fruits of all that glorious HP coming home to roost in the hardparts for sure. I would venture a guess that even 470/900 would break a shaft as well if you were really abusive on it. Thankfully, all my parts broke on sundays driving to church.:p:

Glad to see you and 'Shaft' are on top of the situation.

Is there also a blanket made for the Allison yet to handle the other part when it kersplodes? or are transmission blankets fairly universal? Also when do most people need to think about Trans blankets? Is there a HP level you suggest?

Blew ok oblitterated my tranny in my acura puttin down 550 to the 'front' wheels, got the scar to prove it, not sure how it hit me in the right inner thigh though.
p.s. that was when I was turrnin 10's in the mid/late 90's:eek: only a few of us 'idiots' would spin our motors past 11k. back then...

I don't plan on getting to this lever, at this time :), but it's good to know that these part are out there if ever the need arises. Keep the innovations coming,
HP is like drugs, can be addictive. :D

My 25th post, now I'm allowed to do more on this forum. Yea !!!!

Not really. So far from my feedback; the output shaft tends to break off the line and the input from a roll.

Well its quite obvious that something will eventually snap, My question is not what is the weak link....but what do you want the weak link to be. what is a cheap fix, or cheapest i guess. i would rather somehting that doesnt spider into the rest of the trans. ????
