After towing a 10,000 lb fiver from Phoenix to West Yellowstone, I was careless and pumped five gallons of unleaded fuel into our Duramax. When I noticed my serious mistake I finished fueling with diesel. That give me a mix of 21 to 5. It was late Saturday and not a Chvey dealer within one hundred miles. Since I had already dropped the trailer at a campground fifteen miles distance, I decided try to make it back to the campground so we would have a place to stay. No problem covering the fifteen miles and no noticeable problem towing the same trailer back to Phoenix. When the fuel level dropped to three-fourths, I would refill with diesel and repeated the pattern all the way to Phoenix. Someone said diesel and gasoline will not mix but the rough roads in Yellowstone should have caused considerable aggitation of the fuel, hopefully. How have other Duramax owners conforted this situation and what should I expect from this error. Thanks for your suggestions and input.

you should be Ok, I would suggest the use of a quality additive though. Chances are good you did no damage but would have been further minimized using an additive that adds lubricity.

http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cry.gifOops! Spill some diesel fuel on your best pair of jeans, and the smell will be with you for awhile. You'll smell it everywhere, even when you fuel next time! Seriously, glad your truck suffered no ill effects.
