The dealer gets one certificate ($250) for every car or truck in inventory. They can allocate these certificates how they see the need. Up to four ($1000)for 2007 model and up to eight ($2000) for 2006 models. The dealer had to tell GM which VIN# to apply the certificates to by this last Friday(Nov. 17). They cannot move the certificates once they are designated, they have to stay with that VIN# even if the dealer lets another dealer have that vehicle. So one dealer may have more off on a given model than the next, really crazy and confusing IMHO. I was lucky and a dealer work with me and put $1000 on a 2007 LBZ, plus $1000 rebate and $3000 off my GM card, so I traded my 2006 LBZ.

I drove by my local GMC dealer today on my way home and I saw all the red tags on many GMC vehicles.

Believe it or not, but there were already RED TAGS on the new body 2007 GMC Sierras.

I didnt get a chance to drive into the dealership for pricing details on the red tag event, but Im surprized that there were already red tags on these new trucks, which really only got to dealerships 2-3 weeks ago or so.

I saw the red tags on the D/A trucks at my dealer. they were about 4-6K off MSRP (too bad I just bought a burb and they DO NOT have what I want AT ALL). The GMT-900's did not have the tags on them here.
