after removing the speed limiter what is the top speed you can run.... is it limited by rpm?

The stock tire would be RPM limited to 110mph (3200rpm with 30.4" diameter). If you have a specific tire diameter in mind, let me know what it is, and I can calculate its top speed.

I have 285`s and have seen over 3450 rpm, please tell me how fast that is in 5th gear. I was guessing it to be 125-130 mph.

I have the Stealth and it does away with the top speed and rpm limiter.

I also have rode with Mike Tomac at about 3600 rpm with the same tire combo as mine. I told Mike then that I thought we were going 135+ how close was I?

Assuming that you 285 measures 32.5" tall, 3450 works out to 126mph and 3600 is 131mph. Looks like you were fairly close on your estimates.

Don't use the tire diameters posted on BFGoodrichTires.com because they do not take into account the weight of the trucks impact on the tire's radius.

On Edit:

Did you happen to look over at the EGT guage when you were at 3600RPM. I'm betting it was pegged. I havn't yet been over 115mph, but I get up over 100 several times a week just for a few seconds when passing. Great fun in something this large.Edited by: Amric

Thanks!

I do not know what Mike`s EGT were, but I have the X-Monitor and I know that it was under 1400* as I have never seen more then 1386* other then when the Gage goes berserk. And that has never happened when I was running it hard.

However I have seen 2216* while the engine was turned off and had not run for 12 hours or more. (It`s a long story) the short version is that I installed a switch so I could have power to the X-Monitor while the engine was off because I seen 2213* cruising at 55 mph down hill, and I momentarily freaked out when I looked down and seen the *ALERT* flashing along with the super high EGT..

3350 if your talking about a chevy or GMC. If your talking dodge, I would need to know the tire size differential gearring, and final trans drive ratio.
