I was in a crash in Arizona last week in my 2003 HD duramax 4x4. A 2002 Altima made a left turn in front of me and I "T" boned him doing about 35 mph. The air bags in my truck never activated. At what speed do these air bags activate. My trucks still in Arizona at a Chevy dealer being fixed and I'm back in San Diego. The other driver's insurance is handling all the bills, but my concern is about the air bags not activating. The damage to my truck so far is around $5,600.00 and that doesn't include anything they might find after taking off the bumper, fenders, and hood.

The air bags operate of data recieved from many points around the truck and the DERM decides when to deploy them.. I have heard that some guys are setting off air bags when plowing snow and others are hitting stuff at good speed and nothing. Alot of it has to do with direction of impact also..

Did you feel they should have gone off? Did you hit your chest or face on the steering wheel? If not than they must have the system tuned pretty good.
