Have any of you guys had a vehicle stolen with the Club on? Trying to figure out what is the most effective anti-theft device.

I saw a tool to break the club without hurting the steering wheel on TV once, so I'd say if you were determined, you could get it off. I've heard of the steering wheel being cut, too.

My $0.02, spend your $$$ elsewhere.

Cutting the steering wheel with a bolt cutter easily defeats the club.

Any deterrent you will use EVERY time. The club is a pain in the a@@ to me. I always pop for an aftermarket alarm system. Never saw a truck going down the road with the alarm going off. Anything can be defeated, it's just a matter of making the other guys truck an easier target than yours. Personally, I always add a glass break and interior motion sensor to my aftermarket alarm systems. Nothing stolen yet! Then again, there are also aftermarket red LED flashing lights you can hook up...with NO alarm system...nice, cheap touch to scare off would be crooks I would think...as long as the light is in a highly visible spot.

Kill switch there was a thread about it, do a search IIRC it was by Duratothemax or Max Power.

kill switches are fine and good, as long as they're done smartly enough to keep someone from finding them...

It's not a perfect anti theft device but most crooks will pass it by just because they don't want to mess with it, although if they want your truck bad enough, they're going to get it no matter what you have on it protecting it...

I got a hacksaw that will take on the club any day of the week and win even on Sunday...

The most effective way to use the club is when you catch the person in the act of stealing your truck and you use it to beat the snot out of them......):h

Where I live we are the stolen auto capital of Canada - with the most popular ones stolen being GM products. As an incentive to decrease the thefts our public insurance company has been paying vehicle owners to install one of these:

http://www.mastergard.com/1267%20Mastergard%20flyer.pdf

and similar electronic engine immobilizers:

Autowatch 329 - TIPFK Electronics
Autowatch 573 PPi - PFK Electronics
Mastergard M6000 - MasterGard Enterprises
Mastergard TK PFK Electronics
Powerlock-Canada Ultimate Security Systems

There has not been one vehicle stolen that has these installed.

I have one in my truck. It's avery clean install and all you see is the flashing red light on the steering column. If you don't have the transponder that comes with the system you will not be able to start it. IIRC it shuts off starter, computer and fuel.

:exactly:Anyway, if they see the club, they know there's probably no alarm or other system.

thats all good until they tow it away, speaking from experience here

i did lots of research on the theft issue after my 03 was stolon

here is a brief of what i got:

alarms are detterents only, most people here a alarm in todays age and ignore it,but it helps

club is helpful if you use it,or they dont cut the wheel, most are sitting behind the seat when stolon but it helps

demobilizing the ignition of the vehicle,is the best untill they tow it!

gps tracking good until they disable it or pull it into a metal shop or perhaps into a semi

onstar,DONT EVEN BOTHER false hope and they only look for 48 hrs from the time you call them

all together this might help
i use ultrastart with alarm, EFI to disable the go pedal,if left long enough
i will pull out the ECM,and i tried a sat tracking from work but it was to costly for what it was worth..next i will look into clifford GPS

it was just over a year ago now when my truck was stolen and i still leap out of bed in the middle of the night to see if the trucks there:rolleyes:

auto thefts are huge in my town 7 vehicles are stolen every night mostly Ford trucks right now
I am almost scared of what i would do if i caught a guy stealing my new Ride

All tracking devices, GPS, OnStar, satellite tracking, etc., need an antenna visible to the sky. Any half wit auto thief knows enough to look for the tracking antenna, unscrew it or otherwise disable it, rendering the device useless except to resell it to another gullible future victum!
