After many months of trying to decide on a custom bumper I made my own. It's 8x2 tubing with sheetmetal on top. I also removed the plastic splash guard and had a 1/8" plate bent. Line-X covers them both. The specks on the bumper are bugs.
This was the last project my Dad helped me with. He died of cancer on July 3rd. He was 64.

That came out really good! It looks real rugged without the valance, makes those H2s look right at home. You guys did a real good job following the contor of the bottom of the grill. I give it a big http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Thumbs Up.gif
Sorry to hear about your dad, It's too bad they all gotta go sometime. That's really cool you got to do something enjoyable together before he went though. I give that doublehttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Thumbs Up.gif http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Thumbs Up.gif

Nice Bumper.....I wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of that. I built lots of stuff with my Dad over the years. He passed away March 2003. I know how you feel. Life does go on........Cal

Nice work. Sorry to hear about your dad. Everytime you look at your truck you'll think of your dad. That alone is worth it. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Clap.gif

Very nice and clean job. Sorry about your Dad.
You could easily put some 4" round driving lights in there.
I also has a good front approach for rough county.
Does your bumper follow the contour of the fender well or is it straight?

Sorry for the loss of your Dad. Looks like a good team effort on the bumper. A rolling reminder....
Thanx everyone for the condolences.
The edge of the bumper has a 10 degree angle that follows the fender well. I plan on putting fogs under the bumper to the outside of the tow hooks.
Silverado Man, sorry but I'm not doing anymore. If you have someone that can I'd be more than happy to draw up what I did. The sheet metal I had someone do because of the curves.

A winch could be done but that would take a redesign of the mount. Right now I'm using the original bumper mounts welded to the frame which will take impact but I wouldn't trust pulling. That's why the others use the tow hook mounts.
