My truck last thursday while I was driving hope on the freeway threw a cel and lost power. It would only run at 35MPH and appeared to be running on 4 cylinders. I limped it home and hooked the lap top up to it and it had set P0207 and a P1261 codes. I had it towed to the dealer for repairs. When I backed it out of the carport it seemed to be running on all 8 cylinders. The dealer said they found a 1641 code ? (I can't find this code) and they replaced the FICM for $1022 plus tax. I picked up the truck and made it 4 miles and the same thing happened. They then said they found high fuel return base and replased all 8 injectors under the extended injector warrenty. I asked about the previuos repair and was told by the service rep that the bad FICM had caused the short in injector 7, and they had basically done me a favor and warrented out the injectors. Can anyone tell me if I'v been had with a load of B.S. or is this plausable. My initial reaction is they are full of it, how can the control module short the injector. Sorry for the long post and thanks in advance!:beerchug:

I had a similar problem with my 2001 GMC Dually. It turned out to be a bad injector pump. Exactly the same symptoms and test results as yours.

After a long letter to the General Mananger of the dealer with several pages of documentation they are refunding my money for the FICM repair. They now claim that the injectors, which are still under warrenty caused the FICM to go bad, the they will cover it. Still sounds like bull, I still don't think the FICM was bad but I'm getting my money back!:D

-:t It sounds like they tried to pull one, but glad to hear that they covered it for you. Hope your truck runs OK now, and Welcome to the forum.

If you do some searching around, I think you'll find that its not the FICM that died, but rather the wiring harness to it becomes frayed. IIRC, it affects the #2 and #7 injectors.....

I'd make darn sure they actually replaced the injectors, as it looks like your dealer has no problem hiding the truth.

P1261 is InjectorPositve Voltage Control Circuit Group 1

It has nothing to do with the FICM. those codes would be p1550 or U1800.........

The FICM only has fuel passing through it to cool it.......it won't take out your injectors.

the Dealer tried to screw you........glad you got your money back.

you should tell us exactly which dealer that was so everyone knows to avoid them at all costs. you should call them too and let them know that you did tell everyone about the experience and that they'd be lucky if they got a single other dmax customer ever again.
