I have an '06 LT3 with the supposed "bose" stereo. Needless to say I am not very happy with the sound. I have looked into doing the "lux" amp upgrade with and without Navi and Im not sure if that is going to satisfy what I am trying to achieve with sound quality and volume. My question is does anybody know of a good quality aftermarket head unit that will incorporate itself with the factory bose and steering wheel controls? "Plug and play" in other words. In my previous trucks just simply replacing the head unit would make a huge difference in sound quality over the factory head unit.

Thank you in advance for your input :D

it looks as though you have been around for a while on the DP... i know alot of guys have said the same thing. I dont think its a real easy job to switch to aftermarket with the Bose. i would advise to add a mid grade sub with a huge amp... do a search, its really easy. Mine sounds way better than my old truck which i had a little of 3K into the stereo. It allows more amplification to an aftermarket sub that fits descretely under your back seat (or behind) and then you can have a superior sound. Its a slik way to go in my opinion.

Plug And Play...ummm No....you Will Need Another Adapter To Get The Steering Controls To Work...as Well As A Pac Adapter To Get The Radio To Work...not Sure How Much Of A Paine It Is To Get An Aftermarket Deck To Use The Bose Amp..but I Know It Is Possible..i Would Check Out The Kenwood 7015...w/ Nav

it isn't to hard i believe it is PAC that makes a adapter for it that is what i have in mine and i have had two different head units in it and the steering wheel controls you will need another adapter if you go it alpine they have a few units that have a plug in adapter for the controls but most will use a little LED that you will have to find a spot for so that it will hit the face plate if you need any other help just send me a pm and i can give you more info about it and ya a aftermarket unit sound alot better

Does it sound better with your aftermarket head unit?

i think it does it is more crisp and even with my two 10" subs turned off i can feel the bose sub more then when i had the factory unit i thought i was going to need to replace the factory speakers but i put some in a friends truck and sat in his truck and then went to mine and it sounded almost the same i think the aftermarket units have better EQ's and then you can fine tune them better also
