I have been real happy with my truck so far. Even with the Cluster out for repair and all.
Every since we got the truck I questioned the start time. Seemed to crank just a hair longer then I liked. All my Duramax frieds said it sounded normal to them So I let it go. I have done alot of searchs here and found answers to alot of question. One lead me to check the battery's just this last weekend. Un-hooked each of them and checked voltage and green eye's. I never been a huge fan of the gm battery's and this set has 94k on them. The wifes car went 130k on her original 1995 Delco. I added them to the "To Do list"
Then we have today. At around 4:50 I moved my truck so we could get cars parked around the shop while closing up. I came out 30 Minutes later and the truck only cranked! On the third try she went dead! I do not have my cluster in right now(using scanner to gauges) and could not tell if it was security or voltage or any thing else. We put a fully charged jump box on each battery and still no start!
I came in and did a search and found nothing that realy helped. Lots of speculation on many differebt ideas but nothing that fit.
I went back out and started checking fuses and every thing else I had seen on here. Went to check the batterys and the driver side battery has no green eye now! Not to mention it freaks out the charger when you hook it up. This thing was FINE saturday! A quick check shows only 9.6V while cranking :(
So in a last ditch effort I put a jump box on each battery AND a 100amp plug in charger. Turned the key on and waited for glow plugs and hit the key. She jumped straight to life!
Looks like a new set of Exide Spirals are going on this weekend :( Only thing I have got to live in the Z28 so far!
FYI lost six Red tops(in four cars) one year so not an option here.
I just had to vent. I was pretty damn pissed off:eek:
The moral of the story is your batterys hate you :D
