I all of a sudden (It's been going on for about a month now) developed a loud squeel from the front right wheel well suspension area when going slow on turns (like pulling out of the driveway) slow especially in the morning.

I did a search and found a few hits, some talking about lower ball joints, steering box, pitman arm and upper shock mount.

For such a common loud noise does anyone know if there is a TSB or something so I can confidently fix this problem. It's very difficult to isolate and I'd rather go with a TSB then guess.

I had this very same problem. It ended up being a wheel bearing. Mine was on the drivers side front. Horrible squeal when turning slow in parking lots, driveways, etc.

my '81 GMC squeeled when you cranked it. turned out to be a loose belt. Just a thought...

I would say wheel bearing. Been there, done that-

i wouldn't think its a wheel bearing...because when mine were bad they were even making noise going striaght...i'd jack the front up and move the tires on both sides to see if thats it and if not i'd check the belts and pump

By the way it sounds I'd bet its a wheel bearing now that you guys say it.

So, for those that have done it..

Does the bearing come out from the back (break lower ball joing and pop out fron axle) or does it unbolt from the front (just push the axle out of the spline)?

I've actually changed these before but it's been so long I can't remember...

Changed out my RF hub bearing assembly. The instruction by McRat were excellent. Squeal is gone, ride is smoothe.. Changed the fuel filter while I had the weel off..

It was a good day for the beast..
